If you are on any of the Japanese bases today and your local national employee tomodachi-types are in funky moods, it might be because the Japanese government has hit them with a major pay cut. And I do mean major.

I am not sure of all the details, and I am not even sure if it extends to members of the base unions, but my sweetie-pie came home yesterday swearing like a sailor (bad influence from somewhere) kicked the cat and stomped into the bathroom to soak and steam.

Later, when she was somewhat civilized, she informed me that persons in her category and pay scale were getting a surprise pay cut of 25,000 yen starting this month. Not a total killer for my family, we both work and we do not have kids, but major sucky for the people trying to support families.

Just thought I would throw that out here. Not much we can do about it though.
